Importing and exporting sources is very useful to quickly transfer a large amount of sources from an agent to another. If you wish to learn how to do this please follow this link.
When importing sources in one of your agents, you may notice that its query doesn’t seem to be applied to the new sources you have just imported. Depending on your situation you can use one of these two ways to correct this issue.
The sources you want to import are simple (they are not sources behind authentication, search forms, or using an area tracker). Then the easiest way is to import them using the simple export option.
The sources you want to import are more complex (they use advanced configuration features). In this case you the best way is to apply the query of the agent where you will import the sources to the agent they are currently in. Then export the sources using the full export option, so that when you upload the sources the query will already be in place.
Another possibility can be to add your new sources the way you prefer and then do a complete update of your query in the agent of destination. In this way it will also be applied to your new sources. To do that, open your agent’s advanced configuration page, and in the field “query” at the top click on edit. Then the following page will appear:
However, using this method increases the risk of generating noise, or gathering less pertinent articles between the moment where you upload your new sources and the moment where you update your query.
