Customize a Profile Template
Digimind Profiles are a great way of storing structured information. This allows you to build up a database of products, companies, or whatever you need. You can benchmark one profile against another in order to quickly draw comparisons.
As well as the standard profile types for companies, product and people, you can also generate your own profile types, or modify the standard ones. You will then be able to store and compare the information that matters most to you.
In order to create or modify existing types you need to have
- the Profile Manager option for Digimind
- adminsitrator rights on your Digimind base
Step 1: Prepare
You can choose from a variety of different types of fields while building your profile type. It is a good idea to know what you would like to include in the profile type before building it. The tables below shows the different possibilities and how they might help you.
Make a list of the key points you would like to include in the profile type and work out which type of field you will need to create for each one.
Profiles are easier to use if the names of the fields are clear and understandable for the users. Think about how to label the fields you will use.
Manually Updated FieldsUsers input the information at the creation of the profile and update it when necessary. |
Type of field | Comments on usage |
This is useful for displaying a logo or a product image. |
There are three ways of adding text to your profiles. The method you choose depends on the amount of text you need to include and the way you would like to display the text. Text, paragraph or HTML fields allow your users to add their own comments and opinions on a profile as they create it. If you would like to limit the text displayed to a range of predetermined choices, use the list field. |
Using an HTML field, you can also add tables to a profile. You can modify the background and the borders of your table to suit your mood or needs. Users can then complete the table manually when they are created a profile based on this template. |
You can prepare items in a list, which can then be added to the profile sheet. You can select to allow only one item from the list to be chosen or as many as is necessary. Lists will enable you to limit the text displayed to only the items on the list. If you would like a space for free text, use text, paragraph or HTML fields. |
You can create fields that display only numerical data. These can also be set to show dates or currencies. This is useful for prices, revenue, phone nubmers, dates, etc. |
It is possible to attach other documents to the profile sheet. These will open when clicked. You can use this field to include financial reports, product sheets, etc. |
Automatically Updated FieldsDigimind automatically fills and updates the information in these fields. |
News from the Digimind Content Factory can be displayed on the profile sheet. This will allow your users to have the latest news stories about a product, company, etc. Clicking on the title of a news story will open it in a new tab. You will be able to read the whole story. |
Another way to share information with your users is to draw on information you have validated or stored in a folder in a project. Clicking on the title of the story will take you to the information as it has been saved in your project. You can read the full story. |
If you have the option for Clinical Trials, you can display latest information about any given clinical trial. You will be able to see the tracking history, descriptive information, recruitment information, and administrative information. |
Financial DataThis data is updated automatically based on information from stock markets about publically listed companies. There are three types of information. |
