There are three standard profile types in Digimind: Person, Company and Product.
It is possible to create new profile types or to edit the standard ones, to better meet your needs. To do this, you need to have administrative rights for your Digimind platform.
How do I do this?
First, check you have administrative rights. An easy way to do this is inside the "Manage Profiles" page, click on the "More actions" button. If have administrative rights, you will see "Manage profile types" in the drop down menu. Click on this.
This will take you to a page where you can choose to create or edit profile types. Click on "create a new type" or click on the name of an existing type to start editing or creating.
You will now see a page on which there are three important elements:
- add a block button
- add a field button
- a blue editing box on the left
Add a block button
Add blocks to your template by clicking on this button. You will be able to choose between four types of block: properties, listing, services or dashboard.
The Details Block / Properties Block
When you create a profile type, the details block is automatically created for you. It is possible to add the same type of block by clicking on “Add block” and then selecting “Properties”.
This type of block is useful for displaying information about a profile that you will enter manually, such as the name, the address, etc.
This type of block contains information that will be automatically updated with information from the DCF,or validated information in Digimind projects.
Depending on the type of service you choose to use, you will be asked for further information:
DCF: no further information is required. Digimind will automatically search for articles in the Digimind Content Factory based on the name of the profile.
Folders information: You need to specify a query and then choose the folders in which to look for information. Then the profile will be automatically updated with the latest validated information.
Listing blocks allow you to link one profile in the database to another. You are first required to specify which profile type you want to include, choosing from your existing list of profile types.
The Dashboard block lets you add Digimind graphs and analysis to a profile. These visuals will be updated in real-time.
Add a field
This button is available for properties block or for the details block.
When you click on “Add a field”, a blue window will open to the left of the screen.
To add a field to your profile template, drag and drop the type of field from the blue box to the space on the right.
The details of each of the filelds are outlined below.
It is possible to define fields as required, in which case the user must complete the field in order to save the profile. This is indicated by a red star to the left of the field.
This is a small space for writing a name or some other short text.
Image / File
Click on “Browse” to upload an image or other file type.
You can write text in field and format it using the tool bar at the top of the box.
Paragraph fields are very similar to HTML Fields, the difference being that there is no tool bar at the top so you cannot format the text in the box.
You can choose to show your profile in English or in French.
This is the query that will be used to complete some of the automatically updated fields. You can the same search operators or tags as in the DCF. If you leave this box empty the default query will be the name you give to the profile sheet. For example, a profile sheet called “The Bee Gees” will use “the bee gees” as a search query.
You can change the format of the date by going into Settings (top right of the Digimind page) and then changing the date format.
Money / Numbers
Some of the fields are set to only accept numerical values.
Click on the arrow on the right of the list to see the defined options in the drop-down menu.
Enter the URL here. It must start with http://www. Then on the profile sheet you will be able to click on that link and go directly to the web page.
Enter a valid email address in here in order to set up a link to this address.
These are fields that can be configured to meet your needs. It is a way of storing information in a structured manner. One example is for Addresses. There are two other standard compound fields: income statement and occupation. For details on how to create others, please refer to the Profile Manager section of this guide.
You can link profile sheets with other profiles sheets in the same Digimind platform. Click on the arrow at the side of the box to select the sheet you need.
