Activating and Deactivating Newsletters
Digimind newsletters are automatically sent out on a regular basis to the recipients you choose. As a result they are a great and easy way to keep any group of people up to date on their key subjects.
There are, however, times when it might be useful to interrupt this automatic distribution. This could be because
- the subjects covered in the newsletter have become sensitive for a short period and your crisis management team requests that you stop communicating for a while
- the newsletter has been set up to cover a particular annual event, a trade show, a conference or a summit
- the newsletter is fed by automatic validation and the person in charge of checking the contents before distribution will be absent from their duties for a period
- etc.
Switching newsletters on and off can be done directly from the newsletter page.
Click on Publish and then select manage newsletters:
This will take you to the page where you can see all the newsletters you have set up. if you are an administrator of the Digimind platform you will be able to see all the newsletters that run from your platform.
On the right of the page I can see which of the newsletters are currently active:
and which are currently inactive:
To change the status of the newsletter, click on the current status to switch from enabled to disabled (or vice versa):
Disabling Newsletters During Newsletter Set Up
In addition you can also select to disable the newsletter during the set up process.
To do so, open the advanced fields in the newsletter generator (to find out more about setting up newsletters please follow this link).
In the options you will be able to check the box temporarily deactive this newsletter, which will disable the newsletter until you are ready to start sending it out:
The default setting is for the newsletter to be activated after set up.
Good to Know
Newsletters draw on the information you store in the projects or folders you specify during the set up process. Newsletters are only dispatched if information has been validated or stored into the necessary folders or projects. They will not be sent out if no information has been stored.
