Webpages with log ins and passwords
Some of the pages you want to monitor may have logins that require a user name and a password. This is the case for sites that require a subscription or have a membership programme.
It is possible to keep an eye on what's happening on these pages
- either via their RSS or news feeds
- or to see any changes to the content on the page
- or to track a section of the website
What to do
Inside a monitoring, open up the advanced options page, and then selecting "configure advanced sources".
You will see under RSS feeds, webnews, webpages and websites that you have the possibility to add sources that require authentication.
For more details on adding sources with area tracker read this. For adding websites, look this article.
When you click to add a source with authentication, a window will open:
To fill this window in correctly, go to the page you are interested in tracking or to the RSS feed, site or news feed. You will certainly have to log in with your user name and password to access this. Copy the URL and then paste it in at the top "Webpage address to be monitored".
The "Authentication page address" is the page on which you enter your login and password. Quite often these URLs will have the string login in their title.
When you have completed the form with the two URLs, click on next.
This will take you to the next page,on which Digimind will ask you to enter your login and password.
The next page will ask you to check that the authentication has been successful. You will see the page you would like to track below the wizard if it has worked. If not, firstly check your login and password and then if necessary contact our R&D team who will help you. Some sites need a more technical process in order to gain access to them. We are happy to help you if this is the case. Click on next to add the source to your agent.
Note on Technical Help
It is possible to configure all types of source. However you may find that the particular source you would like to track does not seem to be recognized by Digimind. This is due to the way in which that webpage has been constructed. If this is the case, please contact your Digimind consultant or our support team, who will assist you.
