A Balancing Act: Queries and Sources
Monitoring work best and find more useful information if the query and the sources are balanced (click here to find out more).
The URL Store is a great way to source monitoring with RSS and news feeds that you may never have heard of or visited. Using the tags inside the store you can create packs of sources that are focused on your needs (follow this link to find out how to do this).
You may find that some of the packs you create need to have a specific query. This will help you when fine-tuning a monitoring, allowing you to filter out more noise coming from this particular pack. At times you may want to do the exact opposite and set a lighter query for the pack of sources compared to the other sources in the same monitoring.
Setting a Specific Query for Source Packs
As of October 9th 2014 the cog inside the URL Store will allow you to redefine the query for a particular pack of sources.
When you click to edit the query you will see the query that the agent is already using to filter sources:
To modify the query for this source pack, click on edit, and then make the changes you feel are necessary. Then click on validate. This source pack now has its own query.
See which URL Store Packs have specific sources
Inside the monitoring, click to open the advanced settings and click to configure advanced sources:
By the side of the Pack sources you will see red pencils for those that have specific queries and yellow pencils for those that use the agent's main query:
