What is a list?
Although you can use and benefit from all the features of the Digimind platform without ever creating a list, you will find that your work processes and efficiency are greatly improved by writing and employing lists.
A list a set of keywords that can be inserted and used in other parts of the platform:
Searches: You can use the same list in as many agents or DCF news portlets as you need to and you can combine several lists to create more sophisticated queries. In this way you can use a list to update searches at the same time by modifying the keywords in the list, rather than opening all the agents or news portlets on the same theme and modifying their individual queries.
Graphs and analysis: Some of the Digimind graphs and analysis work with lists. If you have created your own list, of say main competitors, then you will be able to display graphs based on these companies.
How do I create a list?
First, click on "Manage" in the Digimind bar at the top of the platform, and then select "Manage lists" from the drop down menu.
This will open a page displaying all the lists that are currently available for you to use.
At the top of the page, click on the "add list" button:
This will open the "Add list wizard".
Give your list a name. You can keep your list a private list if you do not want any other user of your Digimind platform to have access to it. If you would like others to benefit from your list, select public list in the drop down menu.
Only the author of the list (the person who created it) and administrators of your Digimind platform will be able to edit or delete the list.
Then, click on "add an entity" to start filling up your list.
Give your entity a name. The name will be displayed on any graphs or analysis that use this list.
Select if the entity is defined by a query, a set of folders or a set of agents.
Click on the box by "color of the entity" to add a color to that entity. The color will be displayed on graphs and analysis.
You can test the query before saving the entity.
When you click save you will see the entity has been added to the list. You will also see the other entities you have created for that list.
